Everything is good...so far! The pic shows the Seafood platter. i also had the fried chicken before. Will definitely go back. Line might seem long but service is pretty fast. Desserts are good too, esp the German Chocolate cake.
I LOVE this establishment!!! I’ve been in a few times in person but they don’t have dine in option. Maybe … soon 😊 The staff is always super friendly! I can’t speak enough on how much I appreciate the effort to protect the to go orders. Thank you for providing extraordinary service. I happened upon Mr. B's, a soul food spot nestled in Chester after attending an art show at the nearby arts center. It was easy to find parking right outside the entrance. Although it looked like it is designed for dine-in, it is takeout only. They have ample spaces for you to wait for your order and it stayed busy with lots of walk-ins and pre-orders. The staff was very friendly and there were many items to choose from so I took suggestions and ordered the catfish and the fried chicken. Each entree came with two sides and I ordered the string beans, mac and cheese, collard greens and the yams. I also fell for the dessert display and ordered a slice of plain pound cake. What I liked was that the catfish was fried like I prefer--fried not too hard and not too soft. It was not too salty and golden, with a great texture to the catfish. Next time I'll be sure to order an extra piece. I did not like the mac and cheese as I prefer a more custard-like finish, but don't let that discourage you from ordering. I did find the string beans to be slightly oversalted but they were not overcooked. The fried chicken white I had for dinner and it was fantastic. I enjoyed both the collard greens and the yams and will definitely order those again. The pound cake tasted just like my Grandma used to make it, same weight, same sweetness and a perfect crusting. It would go great á la mode as well. The packaging was very high-quality for takeout, there were no juice spills and it traveled well. I will definitely return when I am in the area!
Welcoming environment. Smelled the food when I entered the area had to go see what it was about. On a diet, unfortunately so I picked these options… they did not disappoint!
I ordered the ultimate seafood platter and after being in RVA 10 months and never being impressed with the restaurants, Mr. B's did impress me! The whiting was seasoned just right, oysters were cooked just right, the crab cake was perfect and although the shrimp was a little salty; I still ate everything! Collard greens and fried okra were my sides. The service was friendly and patient and the food was great overall! I'm from Atlanta so I know good food! Not sure what was going on with the cooks 3 years ago from reading reviews but RVA should really up Mr. B's and give them another chance to be a restaurant open 7 days a week! For what it's worth, I can only give the atmosphere a 3 because at the moment they are only open Thursday-Sunday and it is small with outdoor seating on the street but a peaceful environment still!
Travel from Virginia Beach with family to try this soul food restaurant." I MUST TELL THE TRUTH" truly the absolute best soul food I had away from Mama cooking I had experience in years . The portions are a lot. The food was great. The service you receive is even better. If you are in this area and don't visit Mr.B. you have truly missed out. Brought food for a family of 4. Cost me $42.00 you know the food is good,after everyone eat. The drive back home, family went to sleep during the drive home. I found a damn good soul food restaurant,will definitely be back.
Great food at a great value! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and the portion sizes are generous for the price. You definitely get your money’s worth, and every meal leaves you satisfied. If you’re looking for delicious food, reasonable prices, and portions that don’t disappoint, I highly recommend giving this place a try. I’ll definitely be back!
Today was my first time coming here. It's black owned. Everything is made in house. I will never eat a burger anywhere else. They have so many desserts. I settled on the bread pudding and I was not disappointed. Absolutely phenomenal. The customer service was extraordinary. My new go to.
Genuinely DELICIOUS. Devoured the collards, took one bite of the Mac n cheese, and ate my cornbread. Now it might just be the foodie in me but my soul melted the second I took a bite of the greens and cornbread. 10/10 would recommend eating here!
